Fee waivers

The journal does not waive publication fees for manuscripts submitted to its regular issues.

Conference special issues

The journal may publish a special issue of papers from a scientific conference, under the following conditions:

  • A special issue is published under a written agreement between the journal and the conference organiser, approved by the Editor-in-Chief, which sets the number of papers, the publication fees and who pays them.
  • The organiser may pay the publication fees on behalf of the authors in full or in part; authors are then charged only as the agreement provides, and no author pays twice for the same paper. This is stated in the introduction to the special issue.
  • Special issue papers go through the same peer review as regular papers (double-blind, by independent reviewers) and the same similarity check; a paper is not accepted merely because it was presented at the conference. The Editor-in-Chief takes the final decision on every paper.
  • A guest editor from the conference's scientific committee may be appointed to work under the supervision of the Editor-in-Chief, and does not handle the review of any paper they co-authored.

Refunds and withdrawal

No fee is charged before acceptance. If a fee has been paid and the article is not published for reasons on the journal's side, or the author withdraws the manuscript after acceptance and before publication, the fee is refunded in full within 30 days of the request. The journal charges no withdrawal fee.

Fees do not affect decisions

The decision to accept or reject a manuscript is purely scientific, is taken before any payment is requested, and does not depend on who pays the fee. Reviewers do not know whether the fee will be paid by the author or by another party.
