Journal's Policy

The Journal of the Faculty of Science at the University of Sirte (JSFSU) is a biannual, peer-reviewed scientific journal concerned with publishing research in the fields of basic and applied sciences. The journal accepts research from researchers at all universities and scientific and research institutions in Libya, the Arab world, and abroad, focusing on research quality and originality.

The general policies of such journals include:

  • Publishing Scope: Covers multiple fields in basic and applied sciences, providing opportunities for interdisciplinary research.
  • Publication Conditions: Requires original, unpublished research adhering to ethical and scientific standards.
  • Peer Review Procedures: All submissions undergo expert peer review to ensure scientific quality.
  • Licensing and Open Access: Research is openly accessible to all readers, promoting knowledge dissemination.
  • ISSN: The journal holds international serial numbers for both print and electronic versions to ensure global indexing.

I. Editorial Policy

The journal applies transparent and objective editorial standards, including plagiarism screening and strict academic integrity. All manuscripts are treated confidentially under internationally recognized ethical guidelines, such as the Research Ethics Guidelines of the University of Tripoli.

Policies governing Authorship, Peer Review, Conflicts of Interest, Archiving, and Complaints are detailed on the journal’s website.

II. Open Access Policy

JSFSU adopts a full open-access model, ensuring that all published research is freely accessible to readers worldwide. This policy enhances research visibility, transparency, and collaboration among scientists.

III. Peer Review Policy

The journal follows a Double-blind Peer Review system, maintaining anonymity between authors and reviewers to ensure objectivity. Expert reviewers evaluate the originality, methodology, clarity, and contribution of each manuscript before editorial decisions are made.

  • Confidentiality of review information is strictly maintained.
  • Authors are allowed to respond to reviewer feedback.
  • Decisions are based solely on scientific merit.
  • Conflict of interest is avoided at all stages.

IV. Copyright Policy

Authors retain intellectual property rights while granting the journal the right of publication and distribution. Submitted research must be original, properly cited, and not previously published or under review elsewhere.

V. Authorship Policy

Authorship is restricted to those who have made substantial contributions to the research design, analysis, and writing. All authors must approve the final version and take full responsibility for the work. Order of authorship must reflect contributions and be agreed upon before submission.

VI. Self-Archiving Policy

JSFSU archives all published research in reputable databases, including:

  • Google Scholar
  • CrossRef (DOI)
  • ResearchGate
  • Academia.edu

Authors may also share the final published version on personal or institutional websites, provided they link to the original article on the JSFSU site.

VII. Plagiarism and Retraction Policy

All manuscripts are checked using Turnitin (maximum similarity ≤25%). Proven plagiarism results in rejection or retraction, and the author(s) may be blacklisted, with official notification sent to their institutions.

VIII. Conflicts of Interest Policy

JSFSU enforces strict policies to prevent personal or institutional conflicts of interest. Editors and reviewers must not exploit their positions or communicate directly with authors. All reviews are confidential and anonymous.

IX. Data Sharing Policy

Authors must make data supporting their results available while protecting participant confidentiality. This policy aligns with the AERA Council (2011) Code of Conduct.

X. Publishing Ethics and Misconduct Policy

The journal follows the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Authors, reviewers, and editors must maintain ethical standards and integrity throughout the publication process.

  • Authors: Submit original work, disclose conflicts, and obtain necessary ethical approvals.
  • Reviewers: Evaluate objectively and maintain confidentiality.
  • Editors: Make publication decisions based solely on scientific quality and investigate all ethical complaints.

Reporting Violations: Readers may report suspected ethical violations via the journal’s online reporting form.
