The Economic Studies Journal (ESJ) is one of the most prominent peer-reviewed academic journals in Libya and the Arab region. Established in 2014, its first issue was published in April 2018 by the Faculty of Economics at the University of Sirte, Libya. The journal was launched with a strategic vision to provide a distinguished academic platform focused on publishing high-quality research in the fields of economics, administrative and financial sciences, while addressing issues of economic and administrative development within local and Arab contexts with objectivity and professionalism.
The journal is officially indexed in the Directory of Libyan Electronic Journals (DOLJ), issued by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, which serves as the national reference for evaluating and classifying local academic journals according to rigorous academic quality standards. This inclusion reflects the journal’s adherence to national standards of scientific content quality and academic transparency, thereby reinforcing its credibility within the scholarly community.
The journal features broad coverage of various disciplines, including economics, accounting, finance and banking, business administration, statistics and insurance, as well as political science. It publishes peer-reviewed articles in both Arabic and English, encompassing theoretical and applied research, in addition to field studies, analytical and experimental research, and case studies that strengthen the link between theory and practice.
ESJ adopts a double-blind peer review system that ensures objective evaluation and high research quality by engaging expert reviewers and academic professionals from prestigious Libyan and Arab universities. The journal also adheres to the referencing style of the American Psychological Association (APA) , ensuring accuracy and reliability in citation and referencing.
The journal has earned a distinguished academic reputation through obtaining an international impact factor from ISI indexing databases, in addition to being accredited by the Arabic Impact Factor , highlighting the quality and scholarly reach of its published research within the Arab and international academic community.
ESJ continuously strives to strengthen its position among leading peer-reviewed journals both regionally and internationally by implementing strict publishing policies and promoting innovative research that aligns with scientific advancements and supports economic and social development. The journal is also committed to expanding its academic collaboration network with researchers and scholarly institutions at the local and global levels, making it a reliable and dynamic source of knowledge in the fields of economics, management, and finance.
The journal welcomes contributions from researchers to publish their original scientific work and encourages disciplined academic publishing that enhances research quality and fosters the research environment in Libya and the Arab world. This stems from its firm commitment to supporting sound knowledge and elevating academic standards.
