Peer Review Policy
The Faculty of Education Scientific Journal uses double-blind peer review: reviewers do not know the authors' identities, and authors do not know the reviewers' identities.
| Type of review | Double-blind |
| Number of reviewers | Two with expertise in the specific field, and a third when their recommendations differ |
| Response to invitation | Within one week of receipt |
| Review period | Four weeks from accepting the invitation |
| Revision period | Two weeks for minor revisions, four weeks for major revisions |
| Final decision | Editor-in-Chief, based on the reviewers' reports |
Selecting reviewers
Reviewers hold a doctorate and have research experience in the specific field of the manuscript; where possible their academic rank is not lower than the author's. They are from outside the author's institution and have no competing interest with the author. They may be based in Libya or abroad.
Evaluation criteria
- Originality and novelty of the topic.
- Clarity of the problem and objectives, and their link to previous literature.
- Soundness of the methodology and instruments, including validity and reliability.
- Correctness of the analysis and the discussion of results.
- Contribution to the field and to educational practice.
- Quality of language and referencing, and adherence to research ethics.
Decisions
- Accept as is.
- Accept with minor revisions.
- Major revisions, after which the manuscript returns to the reviewers.
- Reject, with clear scholarly reasons.
If the two reviewers differ between acceptance and rejection, the manuscript is sent to a third reviewer, and the Editor-in-Chief decides in light of the three reports. Authors receive a summary of the reviewers' comments in all cases, including rejection.
The journal's commitments
- Confidentiality of manuscripts and review reports.
- The author's right to respond to comments and to appeal a decision.
- Decisions based on scholarly evaluation alone, free from personal, institutional or financial influence.
Detailed guidance for reviewers is on the Reviewer Guidelines page, and the stages on the Publication and Review Procedures page.
