Editorial Policy
This policy sets out how the Faculty of Education Scientific Journal receives, evaluates and decides on manuscripts, ensuring independence, transparency and fairness.
Scope
The journal publishes original research and review articles in the following fields:
- Educational and psychological sciences: curricula and teaching methods, educational psychology, counselling, and educational administration and planning.
- Languages, literatures and their teaching: Arabic, English and French.
- Humanities and social sciences: history, geography, sociology, philosophy, media and economics.
- Basic and applied sciences and their teaching: mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology and computing.
- Educational technology and e-learning.
- Art education and physical education.
Language and frequency
Manuscripts are accepted in Arabic, English or French, and every article carries a title, abstract and keywords in both Arabic and English. The journal publishes two issues a year, in January and July.
Editorial independence
Acceptance and rejection decisions rest with the editorial board alone, and are based on scholarly merit, originality, sound methodology and fit with the journal's scope, independent of any commercial, political or personal consideration. Publication fees play no part in the decision, as they are charged only after acceptance.
Manuscript workflow
- Submission Through the journal's online platform only; manuscripts sent by email are not accepted.
- Initial screening Checking fit with the scope and the Author Guidelines; a manuscript may be rejected at this stage with the reason stated.
- Similarity check With Turnitin; a manuscript with a similarity above 25% is not sent for review.
- Peer review Double-blind, by two reviewers with expertise in the specific field, and a third when their recommendations differ.
- Decision Made by the Editor-in-Chief on the basis of the reviewers' reports: accept, minor revisions, major revisions or reject.
- Revision The author returns the revised manuscript with a response to each comment within the set period.
- Publication In the next available issue, in order of acceptance date.
Details and timelines are on the Publication and Review Procedures page.
Roles and responsibilities
- Editor-in-Chief: final decision, oversight of peer review, and adherence to the policies.
- Editorial board members: initial screening in their fields, suggesting reviewers, and following up assigned manuscripts.
- Advisory board: scholarly advice on the journal's direction and development, with no role in decisions on individual manuscripts.
- Reviewers: objective scholarly evaluation within the set time, following the Reviewer Guidelines.
Submissions by board members
Editorial board members may publish in the journal. A board member's manuscript is handled by another member with no competing interest; the author does not learn the reviewers' identities or take part in the decision. The journal ensures that papers by its own board members do not dominate any issue.
Preprints and theses
Posting a preprint in a public repository, presenting the work at a conference without publishing the full text, or deriving the article from the author's own thesis is not considered prior publication, provided it is disclosed at submission.
Confidentiality
Every submitted manuscript is treated as a confidential document, seen only by those involved in the editorial and review process.
Advertising and sponsorship
The journal does not publish commercial advertising and does not accept sponsorship that influences its content or decisions.
Appeals and corrections
Authors may appeal a decision and anyone may file a complaint; the procedures and the types of correction and retraction are on the Appeals, Complaints and Corrections page.
Policy review
The editorial board reviews this policy at least once a year and publishes the updated version on the journal website.
