Plagiarism Policy

The Journal of Future Studies – Sirte University (JFSS) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity and honesty and takes all forms of plagiarism and misuse of scholarly work seriously.

Plagiarism refers to the use of ideas, words, data, results, or scholarly materials belonging to others without appropriate acknowledgment of their original sources.

Plagiarism includes, but is not limited to:

  • Copying text from other sources without proper citation.
  • Paraphrasing the ideas of others without adequately acknowledging their sources.
  • Using tables, figures, images, or data without acknowledging their sources or obtaining the necessary permission where required.
  • Reusing substantial parts of the author’s previously published work without appropriate disclosure or citation.
  • Presenting another person’s work as the author’s own.

Manuscripts submitted to the journal are subject to screening using specialized plagiarism and similarity detection tools in accordance with the procedures adopted by the journal.

A high or low similarity percentage alone does not constitute conclusive evidence of plagiarism. The Editorial Board considers the nature and sources of the similarities and the context in which the material is used before taking an appropriate decision.

If plagiarism is suspected, the Editorial Board may request clarification from the authors and take appropriate action based on the screening results and the nature of the case.

Depending on the stage at which the issue is identified and the nature of the case, possible actions may include:

  • Requesting revisions or clarifications.
  • Rejecting the manuscript prior to publication.
  • Referring the case to the appropriate authority when necessary.
  • Correcting or retracting a published article if a substantial issue is identified after publication.

In handling cases of plagiarism and research misconduct, the journal follows relevant principles and guidelines on publication ethics, including the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
