Digital Archiving and Preservation Policy
The Journal of Future Studies – Sirte University (JFSS) is committed to preserving its published scholarly content and maintaining its continuous accessibility. JFSS seeks to ensure continued access to published articles and issues and to protect them from loss or unauthorized alteration.
First: Scope of Archiving
Digital archiving covers the content published by JFSS, including issues, articles, bibliographic metadata, and associated files, in accordance with the applicable publishing and preservation systems.
Second: Preservation through the Journal’s Electronic System
Published issues and articles are preserved within the journal’s electronic publishing system, the Open Journal Systems (OJS), which enables the organization, management, and retrieval of published content through the journal’s electronic archive.
JFSS, in coordination with the relevant electronic systems authorities at Sirte University, works to maintain the continuity of the system and protect published content in accordance with the available technical capabilities and procedures.
Third: Backups
JFSS, in coordination with the relevant technical departments at Sirte University, seeks to maintain regular backups of the journal’s content and associated data in order to reduce the risk of content loss resulting from technical failures, data loss, or other unforeseen circumstances.
Backup procedures, storage locations, and data restoration processes are subject to the technical systems and procedures approved by the university.
Fourth: Continuity of Access
JFSS works to ensure the continued availability of published articles and issues through its website and digital archive and seeks to take appropriate measures to maintain access to the content in the event of technical failures or changes to the electronic system.
Fifth: Digital Identifiers and Persistent Links
JFSS seeks to preserve the bibliographic metadata and digital identifiers associated with published articles, including the Digital Object Identifier (DOI) when assigned, thereby supporting continued access to and identification of published articles even in the event of changes to the website structure or electronic system.
Sixth: Long-Term Preservation
JFSS seeks to develop long-term digital preservation and archiving mechanisms in accordance with established practices in scholarly publishing and to make use of specialized digital preservation services that support continued access to published content over the long term.
Depending on the technical capabilities and approvals available to JFSS, preservation services such as LOCKSS and CLOCKSS, as well as other trusted digital preservation services, may be considered.
The mention of these services in this policy does not constitute a statement that JFSS is currently affiliated with or using them unless they have been officially activated and adopted.
Seventh: Responsibility for Archiving
Archiving and preservation activities are monitored through coordination between the JFSS Editorial Board and the relevant technical authorities at the university, each within the scope of its responsibilities. JFSS also works to develop its digital preservation mechanisms to enhance the continuity of access to published content.
Eighth: Policy Updates
JFSS reviews its Digital Archiving and Preservation Policy periodically and updates it when new preservation or archiving mechanisms or services are officially adopted, including any formal integration with LOCKSS, CLOCKSS, or other digital archiving and preservation services.
