Publication Policies
First: Clear Access Policy.
The Faculty of Education Scientific Journal adopts a clear access policy that aims to promote the dissemination of academic knowledge and to ensure that researchers and readers can access scientific content easily. The journal relies on an open access model, which means that all published research is available free of charge without restrictions. The policy aims to encourage scientific research by providing an open environment for publishing academic studies, and to ensure transparency by making all scientific articles available to researchers and students without the need for a subscription or the payment of fees. It also promotes academic collaboration by enabling researchers to access previous research and to benefit from it in developing their own studies. Research is peer-reviewed before publication to ensure quality and scientific credibility, and research must be original and not previously published in any other journal. Research is also published in accordance with ethical standards to ensure scientific integrity and to prevent plagiarism.
Second: Peer Review Policy.
The peer review policy of the Faculty of Education Scientific Journal aims to ensure the quality of published research and to verify its scientific originality. The journal adopts a double-blind review system, in which the identities of the authors and the reviewers are concealed to enhance objectivity in evaluation. The review process includes several stages, beginning with an initial screening of submissions to confirm that they conform to the journal's standards, after which they are sent to reviewers specialized in the field for a thorough review.
The journal also uses the plagiarism detection software Turnitin to ensure that the similarity rate does not exceed the permitted limit, which is no more than 25%. Reviewers are obliged to maintain the confidentiality of information and to provide an objective review, avoiding personal criticism and focusing on the quality of the scientific content. Finally, the publication decision is made on the basis of the reviewers' recommendations, whether to accept the paper as it is, to request revisions, or to reject it if it does not meet the required standards.
The publication decision depends on the results of the review:
Research is reviewed at the Scientific Journal of the Faculty of Education according to rigorous scientific criteria to ensure the quality of published research.
The journal commits to the following:
That the review be conducted in complete confidentiality, such that the reviewer does not know the name of the researcher and the researcher does not know the name of the reviewer.
The paper is referred to at least three reviewers, at least one of whom holds the rank of Associate Professor, and the reviewer's rank must be higher than that of the researcher.
The review process goes through the following stages:
- Sending the paper to three reviewers together with a scientific examination and evaluation form.
- Evaluating the paper according to specific criteria, including scientific quality and methodology.
- Making a decision on the paper according to the results of the review:
- Suitable for publication.
- Suitable for publication after revision.
- Not suitable for publication.
- If the reviewers' opinions differ, the paper is approved for publication if it obtains the approval of two out of three reviewers.
- Reviewers are asked to submit a detailed report in the case of rejection, explaining the reasons and justifications for the rejection.
The reviewer must also be a specialist in the precise field of the paper, and is selected from the list of reviewers approved by the Editorial Committee of the Faculty of Education Scientific Journal, taking diversity into account and not limiting selection to particular individuals.
Third: Copyright Policy.
The Faculty of Education Scientific Journal is committed to a clear copyright policy that aims to protect the intellectual property of researchers and to ensure the integrity of the published scientific content. The journal relies on academic publishing standards to ensure the originality of research and that the rights of others are not infringed. The researcher retains the intellectual property rights to their published works, while granting the journal the right to publish and distribute them in accordance with the agreed regulations. All research submitted for publication must be original and must not have been previously published or submitted to another journal. Adherence to scientific standards of quotation and documentation is required to avoid scientific plagiarism and to ensure academic integrity. The researcher may not republish their paper in any other journal after its publication in the Faculty of Education Scientific Journal without obtaining prior permission. All submitted research is subject to initial screening by the editorial board to ensure its conformity with the publication rules. Research is reviewed by specialized experts to ensure quality and scientific credibility. Researchers are required to sign a declaration and undertaking not to infringe copyright or submit non-original content.
Fourth: Authorship and Self-Archiving Policy.
The Faculty of Education Scientific Journal adopts a clear policy regarding authorship and self-archiving. This policy aims to ensure the integrity of scientific research and to protect the rights of authors. The journal relies on specific criteria to ensure the quality of published research and to make it easily accessible. All co-authors of a paper must have actually contributed to the preparation and writing of the study, and the journal does not require authors to state the role of each of them in the research. The journal is also committed to a self-archiving policy that allows researchers to deposit copies of their research in digital repositories or on their personal websites, provided that copyright is preserved and the journal's policies are not violated. All submitted research is checked to verify its originality and to ensure that the permitted similarity rate is not exceeded.
Fifth: Plagiarism and Retraction Policy:
To ensure adherence to the standards of academic integrity, research submitted to the journal must comply with ethical standards and avoid any form of plagiarism or literary or scientific theft. Therefore, research sent to the journal undergoes an initial screening through software that checks for literary theft and plagiarism. Thereafter, the editorial board conducts an additional evaluation of the submitted paper to determine its suitability, its readiness for the review process, and its compliance with the journal's publication standards.
If any form of literary or scientific theft is discovered in the submitted paper, the editorial board will contact the researcher concerned to clarify the matter. If the researcher's justifications are not convincing to the editorial board, the board will take a set of strict measures against the researcher, namely:
- The manuscript will be rejected immediately.
- The editorial board will not consider any future publication request from this researcher (the researcher's name will be placed on the blacklist).
- An announcement to this effect will be published on the journal's website and at the researcher's affiliated institution.
If literary or scientific theft is discovered after the paper has been published, the board will take the following measures against the researcher:
- The paper will be withdrawn immediately and then republished on the journal's website and in the next issue marked (Retracted) (RETRACTED).
- A letter will be sent to the scientific institution to which the researcher belongs so that it may take the necessary legal measures.
Sixth: Conflict of Interest Policy.
The Faculty of Education Scientific Journal is committed to avoiding any conflict of interest between editors and researchers, whether arising from personal or institutional relationships. Members of the editorial board and the journal's staff must act with integrity and avoid exploiting their positions for personal gain or benefiting from research before its publication.
They are also prohibited from communicating directly with researchers about their work, as these matters are entrusted to the editorial office. Papers are sent for review without disclosing the identity of the author, and reviewers' comments are sent to researchers without disclosing the reviewers' identities. Everyone is committed to maintaining the confidentiality of information and to not accepting any benefits or gifts from researchers.
Seventh: Data Sharing Policy.
The Faculty of Education Scientific Journal requires all authors to provide all information supporting the results published in their studies. It also encourages them to protect the anonymity of participants in the data, whether qualitative or quantitative, before submitting it to the editors or to the public.
The research methodology is considered a vital element of the work of editors and reviewers. The journal adopts a data-sharing approach consistent with the 2011 recommendations of the American Educational Research Association and its Code of Ethics.
Eighth: Publication Ethics and Malpractice.
An article submitted for publication in the journal must be original and address a new topic, in addition to not having been previously published or submitted for publication in any journal, conference, workshop or particular periodical. The researcher must avoid fabrication, falsification, plagiarism and duplicate publication, as well as submitting the paper to more than one venue at the same time, in addition to violations of ethical standards in the form of protraction, poor organization, and splitting the research results across multiple papers.
The submitted paper must also meet the necessary scientific requirements, with a commitment to a high academic standard in all steps of the research, including defining the research objective, clarifying the research problem, reviewing relevant previous research, analyzing the data, discussing the results, and drawing the conclusion and recommendations, in addition to documenting the sources used in preparing the research. We also ask researchers to attribute any information used in the research to its original source, including financial or consulting institutions or any parties that may give rise to bias or a conflict of interest.
The opinions and ideas presented in the research published in the journal do not necessarily reflect or represent the views of the editorial board, and the researcher remains solely responsible for the opinions, as well as the results and conclusions documented, in the published article.
The researcher must read, complete and sign the "Researcher's Undertaking of Research Originality, Compliance with Scientific Research Ethics, Transfer of Copyright, and Absence of Conflict of Interest Form", which is available electronically on the journal's website. This form shows the researcher's commitment to the ethics of scientific research and the avoidance of plagiarism, in addition to acknowledging those who contributed to the research and stating the type of contribution. When a figure or table is borrowed from a previous study, the original source must be cited, and written permission must be obtained from the copyright holder and attached to the paper submitted for publication.
The journal follows the Code of Conduct of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and follows the COPE Flowcharts for dealing with cases of suspected misconduct.
