Abstract

The study aimed to examine the relationship between self-confidence, depression, and future anxiety as dimensions of temporal orientation (present, past, and future). Self-confidence represents the "present," depression represents the "past," and anxiety represents the "future." The study was conducted on a sample of 18 female psychology students from the second and third years. The measures used included self-confidence (Ayyub Al-Sabhi, 2018), future anxiety (Zalinski, 2000), and the Beck Depression Inventory (first modified version, B.D.I). The main findings revealed: First: The students have a clear orientation toward the "present," and they show a low orientation toward the "past and future," indicating that depression and anxiety coexist. Second: There is a positive correlation between the students in self-confidence, depression, and future anxiety in favor of the third year. Third: Age plays a contributing role in predicting the relationship between self-confidence and depression.
