الزعتر (Thymus capitatus) نبات بري متوطن بالأجزاء الجنوبية لمنطقة الجبل الأخضر، المنطقة الشرقية، ليبيا. لأهمية جنس الزعتر كونه نبات عطري أو كونه نبات طبي، فان الدراسة الحالية تهدف إلى جمع بيانات بحثية من خلال دراسة حقلية شاملة عن تعدد الأشكال الوراثي لصفة لون الأزهار flower color polymorphism في نبات الزعتر البري النامي طبيعيا بالأجزاء الجنوبية لمنطقة الجبل الأخضر. نبات الزعتر اظهر بشكل لافت و ثابت وجود تعدد أشكال لصفة لون الأزهار، فقد كان هناك خمسة أشكال: الأبيض و الأبيض المنقط والأرجواني والبنفسجي و المبرقش في العشائر الطبيعية لهذا النبات.
النتائج المتحصل عليها من خلال الدراسات الحقلية أوضحت أن اختلاف المنسوب Altitude يعطي تكرارات مختلفة لكل شكل، و أن النباتات ذات الأزهار البيضاء سجلت أعلى تكرار.
